Editrolls

Privacy Policy

Who is responsible

Editrolls is run by Suraj Kumar Jha, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India (“Editrolls”, “we”). For anything about your data, write to sigmadev234@gmail.com.

The short version

  • Your videos are edited on your Mac. The video and audio files themselves are never uploaded.
  • Your dashboard lists your projects: their names, progress and a small preview image come from the Mac app. You can turn this off.
  • To edit, the app sends Anthropic’s AI a transcript of what is said and a few still frames from your video. We pass these through and don’t keep them.
  • Our servers keep your account, your reels and purchases, and usage records needed for billing.
  • We measure how Editrolls is used with PostHog. On the website it only uses a cookie if you allow it. No advertising, and we never sell data.

What we collect and keep

  • Account: your name, email address and profile picture from Google when you sign in.
  • Sign-in sessions: when you signed in, your IP address and browser or device description, for security and rate limiting.
  • Your Macs: the computer’s name (shown to you as the device name, so you can sign it out), and a one-way hash of the Mac’s hardware identifier, used only to give the free trial reels once per Mac.
  • Purchases: the reel packs you buy, amounts, Razorpay order and payment ids, refunds and disputes. Card, UPI and bank details go to Razorpay; we never receive them.
  • Edits and usage: for each edit, its length, type, reels charged and status; for each AI request, the model, the number of tokens and its cost. We do not store the prompts, transcripts, frames or the AI’s answers.
  • Usage analytics: which pages are visited and what is clicked on this website (with your browser, device type, approximate location from your IP address, and the page that sent you), and product events such as signing up, starting checkout, buying a pack or an edit being delivered. Events from our servers (signing up, purchases, edits) are linked to your account id, never your email; website events are linked to your account only if you allowed analytics. In Editrolls for Mac, analytics are off unless you turn on Settings → Account → “Share usage analytics”. They never include your videos, transcripts, frames or file names.
  • Projects (Editrolls for Mac 0.3 and later, on by default; Settings → Account → “Show my projects on editrolls.com”): each project’s name, status and current step, length, style, edit type, which edits it used, and one small preview image (about 320 pixels) taken from the video. Not the video itself. Remove a project from the website and it stays on your Mac and stops syncing; moving it to the Trash on your Mac removes it from the website too.
  • Early-access list: if you join the waitlist, your email, what you make (if you tell us) and a salted hash of your IP address, used only to stop spam.

What leaves your Mac while editing

Transcription (Whisper) and face and layout detection (Apple Vision) run on your Mac. To plan and check an edit, the app sends the following through our servers to Anthropic:

  • the transcript of your video (the words, their timing and pauses), and its length, resolution and language;
  • a small number of still frames from your video, and contact sheets and previews of the edited reel, so the AI can place graphics and check the result;
  • your brief and your brand kit (name, colours, fonts), and, if you use a reference video, still frames and a transcript of that video;
  • for Hindi speech, the words, so they can be written in Hinglish.

When an edit shows a brand or product you mention, the name is looked up with Tavily (web search) and that brand’s public website is read with Firecrawl to find its official logo or a screenshot. Public logos and screenshots found this way are cached on our servers and shared across creators; they are not linked to you. Your Mac may also visit those public websites directly to capture them, so those sites see your IP address.

If you create a brand film from a link, the website address you enter is read with Firecrawl, and screenshots and text from that website are sent to Anthropic. We don’t keep them.

Who processes your data

  • Cloudflare: hosts this website, our servers and database, and the app downloads.
  • Google: sign-in.
  • Razorpay: payments and refunds.
  • Anthropic: the AI that plans and checks edits (transcripts and frames, as described above).
  • Tavily and Firecrawl: finding and reading public brand websites.
  • PostHog: usage analytics (United States).

These providers may process data outside India, including in the United States. We only send them what each needs to do its part.

How long we keep it

  • Account, reels, edits and usage records: while your account exists.
  • Project names and preview images: until you remove the project from the website, move it to the Trash on your Mac, or close your account.
  • Purchase and refund records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after your account is deleted.
  • Server logs: a few days. Database backups: up to 30 days.
  • Waitlist entries: until you’re invited or ask us to remove you.
  • Usage analytics: at most 2 years, or until you ask us to delete them.

Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us for a summary of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and its data, and you can withdraw your consent at any time (which means we close your account). Email sigmadev234@gmail.com from the address on your account. We answer within 15 days. If you aren’t satisfied, you can write to our grievance officer (below) and then complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Cookies and analytics

We use first-party cookies that keep you signed in, and your browser remembers your light or dark theme and your analytics choice. These are needed for the site to work.

Analytics: until you choose, PostHog counts each page view without any cookie or storage, so visits can’t be linked together. If you click “Allow”, it uses a first-party cookie and local storage to recognise your return visits. If you click “No thanks”, nothing is recorded. To change your choice, clear this site’s cookies and data in your browser and choose again. There are no advertising cookies. The payment window is provided by Razorpay and follows Razorpay’s own policy.

Children

Editrolls is for people aged 18 or older. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how your data is used, we tell you by email before it applies.
